WOW! Kalista and Ben’s Calvary Baptist wedding was a beautiful illustration of a two people who were meant to be together. We knew there would be some challenges when the weather station was calling for tornadoes and 60 mph winds the whole day. But Kalista, Ben and their families handles the day with grace and ease.
The day began at Kalista’s beautiful family home. I felt like family as we walked in and were greeted with warm hugs and smiles. Kalista loves Jane Austen and classic music, so she played music that set the mood of an enchanting and lyrical day as I photographer her details. We were able to take portraits outside in between wind gusts with the help of her family and bridal party! We were so lucky to have them there to help!! You’ll even see a fun photo I snapped of them holding umbrellas to create a wind barrier during her bridal portraits.
We arrived safely at the church before the storm hit. It was wild! The wind was very loud and the rain was coming from every direction. There was a collective gasp as the doors opened for Kalista to walk down the aisle and the power went OUT!! Thank goodness it came back on within a few seconds. Some of the guests actually got cell phone flashlights out to help light the way if the lights didn’t turn back on. The ceremony was sweet and I love that Ben’s brother, Evan, officiated their marriage. What a wonderful way to honor their families!
To be able to start your marriage out on an adventurous note is a testament to the strength of the relationship. Kalista, Ben, and their families were calm and just excited to celebrate together. That was so impressive to witness.
K&B, congratulations!! It was a joy and an honor to serve you. William and I are grateful to be part of this season of your lives! Wishing you the very best and happiest of marriages!!
